Viewing the properties of a printer

The properties of a printer include the name of the printer, the path to the printer share, and the  computers and locations configured to print to the printer.

To view the properties of a printer

  1. From the left-hand pane, choose Picture of the Printers icon Printers, All Printers.

  2. From the right-hand pane, right-click the printer and from the menu, choose Properties.

  3. Select the General tab. The General tab displays the name of the printer and the path to the printer share. Click the Advanced Properties button to open the Windows printer Property window, or click the Open Printer Queue button to open the Windows printer queue window.

  4. Select the Assignments tab to view a list of computers and locations configured to print to the printer.

  5. Click OK.

Notes

  • Printer properties are also available by selecting the printer and choosing Picture of the Properties button in the toolbar, or from the File menu choosing Properties.

  • If printer credits are installed, a Printer Credits tab is also shown in the Printer Properties window.

  • If you select more than one printer, the boxes on the General tab will be blank and the buttons will be disabled as they are only relevant when a single printer is selected.
